EXPERIENCING GOD'S CREATION
In our daily lives we tend to focus on our human accomplishments. The long list of man-made objects and social systems that we use every day often leads us to the false belief that we are in control of this world. Today you had the opportunity to get away from the fast paced, man-made world and into the world that our Lord created. The goal of this Life Experience is that you would recognize the amazing intricacy and complexity of God's work and praise Him for His creation.
To grow in your understanding of why we have this life, take the time for the activities below:
Read the following verses and
answer the following questions.
-
For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. - Isaiah 45:18
(KJV)
What are the major points of this
verse?
Why did God create the earth?
Why do you think people deny God as creator?
Do you see science as a way to better understand all that God created here, instead of a way to exclude Him from our lives?
-
For from the first making of the world, those things of God which the eye is unable to see, that is, his eternal power and existence, are fully made clear, he having given the knowledge of them through the things which he has made, so that men have no reason for wrongdoing. - Romans 1:20
(BBE)
What does the beauty and complexity of creation reveal about God?
Make a few observations about the environment around you in nature. Do you see evidence that God created this natural world or does it appear random or accidental?
Personal
Reflection.
Spend 15-20 minutes alone in nature. Observer the intricacies of God's handy work. Examine the largest trees and the smallest insects. Look at the sky, on the ground, at the rock, and in the water. Focus on the details of each and write down anything different or that you did not notice before taking this closer look.
Prayers.
Praise God for his wonderful creations. Thank Him for his love for us and for your place in this world, wherever it leads. Thank Him for any new discoveries (spiritual or physical) you have made today. Ask him for more wisdom about his world.
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have put in their places; What is man, that you keep him in mind? The son of man, that you take him into account? - Psalm 8:3-4
(BBE)
